Mapping the Roman Triumphal Procession
Modern Reconstructions and Ancient Evidence
About the project
I am a first-year MA student in Classical Archaeology at the University of British Columbia. Although my background is mostly in the Greek world, I've fast developed a fascination with the dynamism and complexities of Roman culture. My areas of interest include urban planning, cultural appropriation, the sticky business of archaeological theory, as well as looking at Classics through the lens of media studies.
About the author
This site is part of a project I'm completing for a digital humanities course in Roman spectacles. The map I used is from Platner and Ashby's landmark Topographical Dictionary of Ancient Rome (1929), and as such is now creative commons. The map interface was built using MapsAlive (http://www.mapsalive.com).
